Now only the upper work is left, the bridge is to be ready by March-25
Under the Indore-Akola National Highway Project, the remaining foundation work of the pillars of the huge high-level bridge being built on the Narmada River in Moratakka has been completed.
Recently, the foundation work of three pillars was completed by taking shutdown of 40-40 hours on different days.
Till now this work could not be done due to the strong flow of Narmada river. During the shutdown, water withdrawal from Omkareshwar Dam was completely stopped, only then the pillar related work could be done. The work on this one kilometer long bridge was started in 2023. Keeping in view the future needs, this longest bridge of four lane highway is being made six lane wide.
Most of the 62 pillars are ready
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Project Director Sumesh Banjal said that a total of 62 pillars are to be made for the bridge, out of which more than 50 pillars have been made so far. Similarly, 62 slabs are to be laid, out of which 27 slabs have been laid. The target is to complete the bridge work by March 25. With its construction, the problem of river water coming over the bridge will also end.
