The area of the proposed Indore Metropolitan Region has been decided by combining the different boundaries of five districts including Indore. Its area draft will be notified during the Global Investors Summit to be held in Bhopal on 24-25 February.
On Thursday, it was shown to the local public representatives. It was also explained why it is necessary. Indore Metropolitan Region (IMR) will now have a total area of 9937.51 sq km.

In the new regional plan, 100% of Indore, 45% of Ujjain district, 29% of Dewas, 7% of Dhar and 0.54% area (Maksi wala) of Shajapur have been included. Around 9 thousand villages of 28 tehsils of these five districts will also be in this area. Collector Ashish Singh said in the meeting that this area is being decided as per the wish of the Chief Minister and population rules. Due to urbanization and rapid development, Indore city and its surroundings are growing continuously. During the year 2001 to 2011, the growth of Indore city was 32 percent, whereas its periphery 1 had a growth rate of more than 50 percent.
