IDA will conduct a traffic survey, there will be flyovers on eight out of nine intersections of the Eastern Ring Road.
Eastern Ring Road will be the city’s first signal free road.
To make the Eastern Ring Road signal free, Indore Development Authority (IDA) will now build a flyover at Robot Square as well. For this, IDA will conduct a traffic survey for three days. Based on this, a plan for its construction will be made. After this, flyovers will be built at eight of the nine intersections of the Eastern Ring Road. In this way, the ring road will be the first signal free road in the city.
Currently, a flyover is being built at Musakhedi crossing of this road. Four other crossings – Teen Imli, Pipalyahana, Bengali and Khajrana crossings have already been built. In such a situation, when the traffic coming from Bhanwarkuan reaches Robot crossing, the traffic will increase there. To reduce this and to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement till Radisson, there are plans to build a flyover at Robot crossing as well. The survey to be conducted by IDA will have a traffic survey for three days. Data of holidays will also be taken in this. It will be known where the drivers are coming from and where they are going. Traffic speed and delay will be analyzed during the peak hours of morning and evening. The number of people crossing the road and their needs will be assessed.
Roadside parking and other activities will be studied. The status of signals and their impact will be analyzed. After this, DPR will be prepared and the work will reach the stage of starting. IDA says that the survey work will be completed in three months.
Elevated corridor from Malwa Mill to Rasoma
IDA has also planned to conduct a survey for an elevated corridor from Malwa Mill to Rasoma Square via Patnaipura and for another flyover at Rasoma Square. Although IDA has already announced about the elevated corridor, but after the survey at Rasoma Square, it was decided whether it is possible to build a flyover or an underpass at Rasoma Square or not. If it is not practical, then proposals for improvement will be taken at the expert level.
DA is already conducting a survey for the elevated corridor between Radisson and Lavkush Square. At the same time, MP RDC (Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation) is also constructing a flyover at IT Park Square. However, the land required for the construction work has not been fully transferred yet. Approval from the Agriculture Ministry is awaited for the land of Soybean Research Center. The work will be expedited as soon as approval is received. After this, only Bombay Hospital Square will remain on the ring road. However, IDA is also planning for this. Due to less space here, other options are being considered, which also includes underpasses. In the next two-three years, the Eastern Ring Road will be the first such road in the city, where there will be flyovers on eight out of nine major intersections. People will get direct benefit from this, because this route will become signal free completely. This will end the problem of traffic jam and reduce travel time.
Planning will be done after getting the survey report. The agency has started the traffic survey at the robot intersection. After getting its report, planning will be done to build a flyover here. We are working to make all the intersections of the ring road signal free.
