The shortest 299 km long Atal Corridor will be the most expensive.
Work on six new economic corridors will soon begin in Madhya Pradesh. Their total length will be 3,368 km and approximately ₹36,483 crore will be spent. These corridors include the Narmada Pragatipath, Vindhya Expressway, Malwa-Nimar Vikaspath, Atal Pragatipath, Bundelkhand Vikaspath, and Madhya Bharat Vikaspath. Two of these corridors will pass through Bhopal and two in its vicinity. The final draft has been prepared, and construction work will be carried out jointly by the Public Works Department, NHAI, and the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation.
According to the final plan, these corridors will divide the state into eight roughly equal parts. Approximately 55 districts will be directly or indirectly connected. The target is to complete all the corridors by 2029.
Of these, the Atal Pragatipath will be the shortest (299 km) and the most expensive (Rs 12,227 crore). The Bundelkhand Vikas Path and Malwa-Nimar Vikas Path will be completed first, by December 2026. The Vindhya Expressway is planned to be completed last, by December 2029.
Work is underway on Indore-Burhanpur (215 km) and Garoth-Ujjain (136 km).
Vindhya Expressway cost- Rs 3809 crore. It will be completed by December 2029. It will connect Bhopal directly to Singrauli. Ten districts will be covered along the route, including Bhopal, Sagar, Damoh, Katni, and Rewa.
Madhya Bharat Vikas Yojana: Cost-3819 crore. It will be completed by December 2028. It will connect tourist destinations like Bhimbetka, Bhojpur, Sanchi, Udayagiri, Chanderi, Orchha, and Datia. This corridor will directly connect Morena to Betul.
Malwa-Nimar Development Milk Cost- 7,972 crore rupees. It will be completed by December 2026. It will connect Mandsaur, Ujjain, Indore, Khandwa, and Burhanpur. Work is underway on the 136-km Garoth-Ujjain and 215-km Indore-Burhanpur sections.
Atal Pragatipath : Cost 12,227 crore. It will be completed by December 2027. It will originate from the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor in the west and connect to the Bundelkhand Expressway. Sheopur, Morena, and Bhind will be its main districts.
Bundelkhand Pragatipath cost- 3,357 crore rupees. It will be completed by December 2026. Five districts: Bhopal, Raisen, Vidisha, Sagar, and Chhatarpur will benefit. This project will directly connect Bhopal with Chhatarpur.
Narmada Vikas Yojana: Costing 5,299 crore rupees, it will be completed by December 2027. It will pass through 10 districts, including Jhabua, Dhar, Indore, Dewas, Sehore, Raisen, Narsinghpur, Jabalpur, and Dindori. It will begin at Bilaspur-Raipur and continue to Gujarat.
Madhya Bharat Vikas Yojana: Cost-3819 crore. It will be completed by December 2028. It will connect tourist destinations like Bhimbetka, Bhojpur, Sanchi, Udayagiri, Chanderi, Orchha, and Datia. This corridor will directly connect Morena to Betul.
