After Ralamandal and Khivni, now the fourth sanctuary will come into existence from Omkareshwar and Tillaur to Barwah.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced the declaration of the Omkareshwar Reserve Water Area as a sanctuary. This will create four sanctuaries around Indore. Khivni Sanctuary is located approximately 160 km from Indore via Dewas and Ashta.

Ralamandal in Indore also has sanctuary status. A project called the Devi Ahilya Bai Sanctuary is also proposed from Tillaur to Barwah. The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests has approved this proposed 6,700-hectare sanctuary.

This will be presented before the Life Board. This sanctuary, along with Omkareshwar, may also receive approval.

Greenery, wildlife will be protected, tourism will increase

Wildlife experts say that after Omkareshwar and Devi Ahilya Sanctuary become operational, Indore will be used as a tourist base camp. Not only will the options of Khivni, Devi Ahilya Bai, Omkareshwar Sanctuary remain open, one will also be able to see Ralamandal. There are not so many sanctuaries around any city in the state. Another Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary for leopards will also be available 255 km away from Indore. Wildlife tourism will increase here after the sanctuary is declared. Village tourism, resorts, hotels will develop. Local people will get work. As soon as the boundary of the sanctuary is proposed, greenery and wildlife will be protected.

5 to 7 dams in 6700 hectares of forest
The proposed project, called the Devi Ahilya Bai Sanctuary, stretches from Tillaur to Barwah, encompassing 6,700 hectares of forest. It is home to five to seven tigers, around 70 leopards, and hundreds of spotted deer, blackbucks, nilgai, wild boar, chinkara, porcupines, foxes, hyenas, peacocks, and wild rabbits.

This process of Devi Ahilya Sanctuary is still pending.

The paperwork for the Devi Ahilya Sanctuary has been completed. The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) will finalize it. After receiving approval from there, it will be sent to the State Wildlife Board. If the Board approves the project, it will then go to an empowered committee constituted by the Supreme Court. After approval from there, a notification will be issued.
