The proposal for widening the service road is pending with the government.
Indore
The Public Works Department has claimed that the AB Road arm of the Reti Mandi Railway Overbridge, being constructed on AB Road, will be open to traffic by the end of February. However, the section overlooking the railway tracks will be open to traffic by the end of June.
Due to bridge construction, since last October 2023, the pressure of all vehicles is on the service road built below.
Currently, the asphalting of the existing two lanes of the service road has been completed. Once the AB Road sections are open to traffic, a third lane is proposed to be constructed on both sides of the service road. However, administrative approval for this has not yet been received.
Sent a proposal to make the service road three lane
: As this part of AB Road is important, a proposal has been sent to make the service road three lane. This will increase the width of the road to 10.5 meters on both sides. The department has also sent a diversion plan for this to the traffic police. Work will begin after getting approval from the government and traffic police and after the arms of AB Road are started. It has been two years and four months since the construction of the railway overbridge being built in Reti Mandi area started. This bridge, being built at a cost of about Rs 25 crore, is being constructed by Ramprakash Gupta & Company. The railway contractor has also started the work of the span of the railway portion.
A plan was made after seeing the heavy traffic pressure: Lok
According to Gurneet Kaur Bhatia, executive engineer of the construction department’s bridge cell, plans have been made to redevelop the service roads on both sides of the bridge due to the high traffic pressure on this section. The bridge’s arms, descending on both sides of AB Road, will be 12 meters wide. This leaves 9 meters of space for the service road, which is in line with the original design.
