The revised drawing design, decisions taken at the ministerial meeting, and the High Court petition have no effect for now. Officials are also clear: the corridor will be constructed in accordance with the Chief Minister’s decision.
Indore.
The Public Works Department has started the process of construction of 7400 meter long elevated corridor from LIG to Navlakha on AB Road and has also erected pillars and laid sheets in a portion for soil testing and from February 15
Formal construction of the corridor will begin with the foundation. Meanwhile, debate continues regarding this corridor. Revisions to the drawing design, suggestions made at a meeting convened by the minister, and a petition has been filed in the High Court. Despite this, the PWD is currently working according to its own project, and officials are adamant that construction will be carried out in accordance with the Chief Minister’s decision regarding the corridor.
Like many projects in the city, the elevated corridor has been in limbo for the past four years, with only suggestions being made, even though the PWD awarded the contract for its construction four years ago for over Rs 300 crore.
Preparations for soil testing… the road was blocked by placing sheets.
It has already been given. Some time ago, in an important meeting related to Indore’s development, the decision to construct an elevated corridor was made. In light of this, the Public Works Department not only finalized its preparations, but also recently presented this elevated corridor at a meeting convened by Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya. It was clearly stated that construction would begin on February 15th, and Collector Shivam Verma also echoed this sentiment.
In this meeting, many other suggestions were given including construction of six lanes instead of four lanes and another meeting has also been called on February 7 in this regard, while on the other hand, a so-called expert, who creates hurdles in every project of the city, has filed a petition in the High Court regarding this.
They have also filed a petition to stop the construction of the corridor. They believe this corridor is not even necessary, and instead of a corridor from Ek Lampa LIG to Navlakha,
There have also been suggestions to construct flyovers at various intersections. However, senior officials have clearly stated that the corridor will be built in accordance with the Chief Minister’s decision, and that no amendments have been made to the PWD’s current plan.
If any good suggestion is received, it can be implemented in the Salte project.
On the other hand, the PWD has erected pillars and laid sheets on the portion of AB Road in front of the Press Complex. The PWD says that the soil testing work will be done now and after that the foundation work will start on the spot from February 15, because the contractor firm has also made arrangements for its camp as well as plot-machinery and the department has also done the center line marking work. This corridor will be 7.40 kilometers long i.e. 7400 meters and its width will be 15.50 meters for four lanes. The central government has approved an amount of Rs 350 crores and on that basis the PWD has called for tenders and awarded the Rajkamal
Builders Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., Gujarat, was awarded the contract for ₹306.27 crore for a period of four years, and the work order was issued and the contract was signed on February 17, 2021. This corridor will have exits at three intersections: Guitar Square, Ratlam Koti, and the third intersection will be towards the White House.
