Prices up 45% in 6 years, yet buyers prefer bigger homes; plot size up 17% in 3 years

Despite the boom in the housing sector, demand for larger homes is increasing. According to a report, the average plot size in 7 major cities of the country has increased by 17% in just three years to 1,676 sq ft. In 2023 it was 1,420 sq ft. Plot prices have risen by up to 45% compared to 2019. Experts say the main reason behind price and interest-rate changes is the growing trend of premium-location plots designed for 3–4 BHK homes with study rooms. People now want plots where they can build larger homes with good facilities without excessive additional cost.
