The expansion and population of the city is continuously increasing, but in this regard, public transport is not yet available. In view of this, now the city transport company AICTSL and the administration will increase public transport. AICTSL, which is running at a loss of around Rs 45 crore, has prepared a plan to increase the number of buses, depots and three intercity terminals. In the coming time, city buses will be started on 25 new routes within a radius of 242 km. These will be those routes in the city where there is currently a shortage or non-existence of public transport. Apart from this, 600 new bus stops will be built. Jinsi, Teen Imli and Gangwal bus stands will be developed as intercity terminals. Apart from this, the operation of intercity buses from Geeta Bhawan will be stopped and shifted to ISBT of Kumedi.

The population of the city has reached 35 lakhs. Currently, 31 lakh vehicles are running on the city roads every day. Two Inter State Bus Stands (ISBT) are ready in the city. The administration has started preparations to build six new ISBTs. These will be built at such places from where the entire city can be covered. Two bus depots will be built under the Pradhan Mantri e-Bus service

600 new bus stops are being built. Panic buttons will also be installed on them for security reasons. Currently, if we talk about city bus and I-bus, AICTSL is operating 616 buses on 78 routes. The number of private buses is more than three thousand, which ply on the city roads. ISBTs have been ready at Naita Mundla on the bypass and Kumedi towards Ujjain. Apart from this, new ISBTs will be built keeping in view the traffic going towards Dhar Road, Depalpur, Dewas, Kanadia, Rau and Nagpur.

City bus routes will be increased

  • Buses operated from AICTSL office located at Geeta Bhawan will be operated by Kumedi.

Will be shifted to ISBT. Buses of Khargone, Sendhwa, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Ratlam, Ujjain, Dhar, Mandav, Maheshwar, Bhopal will be operated from here.
