Before finalizing the design, we will get it approved from IIT, the issue still persists on the Polo Ground side
Indore
The Z-shaped flyover under construction at Polo Ground has become a bone of contention for the Public Works Department (PWD). The PWD has now prepared to give a T shape to the MR-4 side of the bridge which is surrounded by controversy. By doing this, one angle of 90 degrees will be eliminated, but after giving the T shape, there is not enough space left for the arm that will be lowered on the MR-4 side. Whatever design will be made, it will be sent to IIT Indore for proof checking.
MR-4 arm also opposed
Industries are opposing the landing of the arm on MR-4. Industrialists want the arm to be landed towards Bhagirathpura. Their argument is that most of the traffic on the earlier railway crossing here was of goods warehouse from Bhagirathpura. There is a narrow road towards Bhagirathpura. The surrounding private and industrial land is empty. That means there is no permanent construction on it. There is not much traffic pressure here. On the other hand, the width of the part of MR-4 going towards the city is suddenly getting halved. There are plots of many industries here, which are not giving their land. In such a situation, if the arm has to be landed here in the current situation, it is not possible without land acquisition.
Giving T shape will provide relief
Since the development of MR-4, this road has become an important road connecting the city. If both the arms are brought down on MR-4, a T-shape will be formed above it, which will not cause much trouble to big vehicles. At present, this road is only 30 meters wide on the Laxmibai Nagar side and 15 meters inside the city. The width of the bridge will be 12 meters. In such a situation, when the road is built in the decided form, there will be space for service roads on both sides of the bridge.
We are also in talks with the Municipal Corporation to remove encroachments from the place where we have started planning to land the arm of MR-4. A 45 meter road has been approved here and our 12 meter bridge will easily come on it. Regarding the traffic of Bhagirathpura, the public representatives say that the traffic there will come to MR-4 and take a U-turn and use the bridge. That is why the plan to land the arm there is being changed.
