The Metro Rail Company is preparing to lay an underground line by digging through the school campus and parking area near the Municipal Corporation headquarters. Work has been ongoing for the past several months. Controversy also exists regarding where the metro should be routed underground in the Raj Bhawan area. There are concerns that extending the metro underground near the historic Raj Bhawan building could cause damage. Due to this concern, former MP Sumitra Mahajan has written a letter demanding a change in the Metro Rail route. There is also widespread opposition to the Chhota Ganpati railway station near the Malharganj police station, which is located on this route.

This work has been started near the Aerodrome Police Station. Along with this, work has also started from near APTC towards Aerodrome Police Station.
