he division bench of Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Ket and Justice Vivek Jain of the High Court on Thursday ordered the phased removal of Indore’s BRTS. The Municipal Corporation had submitted its reply before the High Court regarding its removal. It was said that there is a traffic jam on the mixed lanes on both sides. Vehicles are also stuck at the intersections. The city is also growing rapidly. Therefore, it is necessary to remove the BRTS. Three months ago, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav had also announced the removal of BRTS. An expert committee was also formed by the High Court regarding the utility of BRTS. The court has given the decision to remove it on the basis of the government’s reply and the committee’s report. Social activist Kishore Kodwani had filed a PIL against BRTS 12 years ago.
Flyovers or underpasses are to be built at seven intersections
IDA is going to build a flyover or underpass in this part of AB Road 11.5. Its feasibility survey is going on. The bridge has been built at Bhanwarkuan crossing. Work is going on at Satyasai crossing. There is also a proposal for bridges at L.Arthji, Palasia, Geeta Bhawan, Shivani Vatika, Naulakha. In such a situation, the bus lane would become useless anyway. The main bridge is to be constructed in the part of the bus lane itself.
There has been no formal inauguration in 12 years
The aim was to reduce the load of private vehicles on the roads by running iBus on BRTS, but parking was not made on both sides of the 11.5 km corridor. It is not possible for a person to bring his vehicle from home to the corridor and travel further by bus. • Other public transports should be started from the feeder roads of BRTS.
Connectivity was also not working properly. To reach the station
Put over bridges could not be built either. Cycle tracks were built on BRTS, but in view of the increasing load of vehicles, these were removed from most places and the mix lanes were widened.
* For the last 12 years, buses are running on trial runs in the bus lane. It has not been formally inaugurated yet.
Removal of BRTS will ease traffic, it will be removed soon
Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava said, the court’s decision is welcome. We will soon take action to remove the BRTS. Its removal will increase the ease of traffic in the city. Both the parties agreed on the removal of BRTS in the petition.
Chief Minister said- more flyovers will be constructed for smooth flow of traffic
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said, after the High Court order, BRTS will now be removed in a phased manner. This decision will provide relief to the public and get rid of traffic jams at various places. Flyovers will be built at intersections to ease traffic on AB Road.
