The corporation will begin widening AB Road with the demolition of the BRTS, issuing work orders to both contractors, and work will begin in Niranjanpur and GPO.

Indore.

Following the High Court’s reprimand, the demolition of the BRTS corridor has gained some momentum, and the railing on one side has been removed. However, the work of breaking the beam and then leveling the road will also be carried out. The Collector-Commissioner is scheduled to appear in the High Court on December 16th, where a status report will be presented. The corporation has also assigned the task of constructing the center divider to two contractor firms, and the drawings and designs are being finalized and work orders are being issued. The corporation claims that construction will begin this week. Work will begin simultaneously at the Niranjanpur and GPO intersections.

Initially, the Municipal Corporation was being lax in the matter of demolishing the BRTS and after cancelling the tender thrice, it was done with great difficulty even in the fourth attempt.

A contractor was found. However, even that contractor and a scrap dealer were assigned the responsibility of dismantling the railing and opening the bus stop. Meanwhile, during the ongoing hearing, recently Officials were severely reprimanded, and the court even remarked that the corporation has sufficient resources to demolish houses and other structures. But why is it taking so long to demolish the BRTS? The High Court also ordered the removal of one side of the railing within 15 days. As a result, Municipal Commissioner Dilip Kumar Yadav initiated continuous monitoring and, within three to four days, pressured the contractor to remove the railing on one side. With the help of additional labor, the railing on one side was completely removed, and a pre-fabricated divider was also installed to prevent accidents.

However, the problem remains that after removing the railing, vehicles will be able to run on the beam and the risk of accidents. However, it will take time to build the central divider. Even if work progresses rapidly on the 11.5-kilometer BRTS corridor, it will still take 6 to 8 months. According to Rajendra Rathore, the corporation’s public works committee in-charge, two contractor firms have been selected, which will simultaneously begin construction of the central divider on both sides. One firm will start from the Niranjanpur side, the other from the GPO intersection.

Work will begin this week. The drawing design was finalized after discussions with Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava and was presented at the Mayor’s Council meeting.

Along with the attractive electrical system in the divider, the green belt that will be developed will also have a water supply facility. Currently, the corporation supplies water to these areas using tankers. However, these dividers on AB Road will no longer require water supply from tankers. Work orders will be issued soon, and construction of the central divider will be initiated by both contractor firms soon.
