Metro project Kakam is going on in Indore and Bhopal, which will gain further momentum after the code of conduct and new tenders are also to be approved. The first phase of metro of about 32 kilometers is being implemented in Indore, for which packages have been decided in different parts and work has been assigned to contractor firms on the same basis.
In this, the work of 5.29 km package has been awarded to Dilip Buildcon Limited, the cost of which is approximately Rs 229 crore. Although the work was to be completed in 27 months, it took 66 months. Just two days ago, the last segment was also successfully launched with worship. Total in this part 1871.
Precast segments have been installed. Tracks are laid on these segments only. The work of elevated corridor is going on from Airport to Gandhi Nagar and from there to Radisson and Robot intersection via Super Corridor, MR-10, Sayaji, Vijay Nagar intersection, while the elevated corridor from Robot to High Court via Bengali, Palasia intersection is being constructed. The contract for that has also been done and there will be an underground corridor from High Court to MG Road via Rajwada, Bada Ganpati and from there to the airport, after the survey of which the tender process is now being done by the Metro Rail Corporation. However, by the end of this year it has been claimed that commercial operation of Metro should be started from Gandhi Nagar to Robot Square.
