To make the metro trains useful for the people in the city, preparations are being made to provide maximum facilities at the metro station. Multimodal public transport connectivity and parking facilities will be created at the station along with basic amenities. For parking, the Corporation has proposed to provide slots on vacant land around the station.
A coordination meeting was held between Metro Corporation and Municipal Corporation officials on Friday. Corporation Commissioner and Additional Managing Director Metro Shivam Verma, while reviewing the current work, gave instructions to speed it up.
Detailed discussions were held to provide passenger facilities at the station being prepared. Verma said, the more convenient the stations are, the more useful the metro will be. While giving the presentation of the current works, the officials also raised the problems. It was also asked to prepare a plan for drainage of water and sewerage at the station and depot. Similarly, metro median line also has to be prepared. This will prevent vehicles from crossing. Metro project GM Ajay Kumar, Additional Commissioner Abhilash Mishra, Abhay Rajangaonkar, Manoj Pathak and other officials were present in the meeting.
Arrange multimodal
During the discussion, after getting down from the metro, connecting to other public transport to go to other places was also discussed in detail. For this, an integrated plan for multimodal public transport will be made. In this, metro will be connected with city bus, I-bus, e-rickshaw and other means of public transport.
Parking will be made in the ground part of the elevated station.
The issue of parking at the metro station also came up. It was told that parking will be built in the ground part of the elevated station. This will not be enough. This facility will have to be prepared by marking an empty space at a distance of 100-200 meters from the station. With this, people will be able to travel in the metro keeping their vehicles. The administration should provide land for this.
