Traffic will get great relief • The new bridge will be called Bajrang Setu, the 70 year old bridge was only 20 feet wide, now the width is 60 feet
Hathipala Bridge, built at a cost of Rs 5 crore, was started on Monday. The new bridge will be called Bajrang Setu. The width of the four lane new bridge is 60 feet and length is 125 feet. Footpaths of 4 feet width and central median have been made on both sides of the bridge. Approach roads of approximately 180 feet length have been constructed on both sides. Hathipala bridge in area number 3 was dilapidated as it was 70 years old. Due to the width being only 20 feet, there was difficulty in the movement of vehicles on the bridge.
A new road will be constructed connecting Jawahar Marg to Hathipala Bridge. The construction of 23 master plan roads in the city at a cost of Rs 400 crore will be started after the rains. MLA Golu Shukla said, the new bridge will reduce the traffic load of Jawahar Marg. MP Shankar Lalwani said that an action plan has been prepared to make Indore’s railway station new and bigger on the lines of the airport. There is also a plan for the construction of 21 big and small bridges and culverts. Former MLA Gopikrishna Nema, Mayor Council member Manish Sharma, Niranjan Singh Chauhan, Ashwini Shukla, Councilor Ranjana Pimple etc. were present.
Benefit of the bridge: Vehicles coming from Jawahar Marg from the vehicle stand, Juni Indore side will no longer have to take a long detour.
- Hathipala Bridge is an important bridge of the city. It is an important link for transportation of Loha Mandi from the commercial areas of Jawahar Marg, Siyaganj, Ranipura, MTH Compound, Jail Road.
- Vehicles coming from Jawahar Marg from Train Stand, Juni Indore side will save 3 km and one hour.
- The bridge will benefit the goods carrying small vehicles of the business area as well as two wheeler and three wheeler drivers going from Juni Indore towards Palsikar and Collectorate.
- Increasing the width will ease traffic. There will be further reduction in the traffic on Jawahar Marg because of the construction of the Gadi Adda Bridge Traffic going towards Loha Mandi will also be able to move.
- Presently the narrow path of Champabagh was being used to reach Loha Mandi area from Siyaganj market. Now with this this path will also open.
- Movement of goods vehicles. For ease of use, if the traffic department makes Champabagh and Hathipala Road one-way, then the traffic can be made easier.
- Now by improving the route for the vehicles going towards Raoji Bazaar and Gadi Adda, the bridge can provide ease of access towards Palsikar and Lohamandi.
