The new bridge will cost ₹175 crore and will start from the Divisional Commissioner’s Office, extending up to Regal Tiraha.

Saving the Gopeshwar Mahadev Temple and managing traffic diversion are the biggest challenges.

According to the report, the administration has prepared a new plan for the construction of the new bridge. Instead of demolishing the existing Shastri Bridge first, a new two-lane bridge will initially be constructed parallel to it on the Regal side.

Once the new bridge is completed and traffic is shifted onto it, the old Shastri Bridge will be demolished and further construction will be carried out.

The proposed bridge will begin near the Divisional Commissioner’s Office and extend up to Regal Tiraha. The estimated cost of the project is around ₹175 crore.

Major Challenges

The two major challenges in executing the project are:

  1. Protecting the Gopeshwar Mahadev Temple while carrying out the bridge construction.
  2. Managing traffic diversion during construction and after the old bridge is demolished.

The authorities have directed the Indore Development Authority (IDA) to conduct a detailed survey. The survey will examine the bridge alignment, height, width, traffic management and other technical aspects.

The report also mentions that the new bridge will be constructed at a greater height than the existing Shastri Bridge.

Traffic Volume

According to the information published in the newspaper, approximately 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh vehicles cross this route every day, making traffic management a major concern during construction.
