The scrap dealer did wonders… the railing was removed in just two days, although it will take time to break the beam and open the bus stop, an answer has to be given in the High Court, the Commissioner himself is monitoring.

Indore.

The effect of the High Court’s reprimand was that the railing on one side of the 11 km long BRTS started coming off and today this railing will be completely removed.

However, according to the contractor, no new instructions have been received regarding the railing on the other side. The corporation says that the two contractor firms assigned to the center divider will soon begin constructing the divider. Although removing the railing takes less time, breaking the cement concrete beams built for it, leveling the ground, and removing and dismantling the bus stops built along the entire corridor will definitely take time. However, the corporation has set a time period of 6 months for this.
The approximately 11.5-kilometer BRTS corridor from Niranjanpur to Rajiv Gandhi Square will become a thing of the past in the next six months, when the entire system built for city buses will be removed. Currently, flyover construction is underway at Niranjanpur and Satyasai Square, which has led to the suspension of city bus operations within the corridor. However, now the operation of i-City buses has ceased on the entire BRTS, and these buses are operating only on the two-way lanes reserved for general vehicles. Just three days ago, the High Court reprimanded the Collector and Municipal Commissioner for the laxity in demolition work and ordered the removal of one side of the railing within 15 days. This has led to a sudden halt in traffic for the past two days.

The process of removing the railings has progressed rapidly, and the Collector and Municipal Commissioner Dilip Kumar Yadav are continuously monitoring it. The BRTS demolition contract has been sublet and now belongs to a scrap dealer, who, in just two days, removed the railings from the GPO intersection to the Medical College and beyond the Press Complex yesterday. When contractor Deepanshu Jharia was questioned this morning, he said he would complete the removal of one side of the railing today. Breaking the beams and removing the bus stops will take time. Meanwhile, Rajendra Rathore says that a center divider is to be constructed on the BRTS corridor, and other provisions have been made. Electricity poles will also be relocated and new ones installed. The center divider construction work was awarded to two contractor firms, and the tender for the third package failed to be approved. However, these two contractor firms will be responsible for this work, and they will soon begin construction of the center divider as well, so that this work can be completed within the stipulated timeframe. Meanwhile, AICTSL is also constructing new bus stops.
