The work will be done keeping in view the possibility of city expansion in future.

Indore: Under the Indore-Akola four lane project, an 11 km long service road will also be built from Tejaji Nagar Junction of Indore Bypass towards Balwara. The two-lane service road to be built on both sides will greatly facilitate internal traffic during the future expansion of the city. A similar service road will also be built on the 28 km long greenfield highway being built between Indore and Raghogarh under the Indore-Harda four lane project. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has already made a provision for this in the project. Due to the service road, the width of the highway appears much larger when moving from Tejaji Nagar towards Balwara. Officials argue that with the construction of a four-lane highway in future, the traffic on the highway will increase manifold due to educational institutions like Omkareshwar and IIT. In such a situation, it was very important to make provision for service roads. With the construction of the service road, the traffic on the highway will continue to move smoothly and the commuters on both sides of the highway will not face any problem. The main road of the highway will be four lanes wide.
Residential and commercial activities will develop

NHAI Project Director Sumesh Banjhal said that with the construction of Akola Highway, the traffic on this road is going to increase manifold. Naturally, there will be rapid development of residential and commercial activities on both sides of the highway. Then the service road will prove to be very effective for the people on both sides. The work on the 33 km long stretch from Tejaji Nagar to Balwara will be completed in 2025.
