Report prepared on the basis of research being done in GSITS
Suggestion- If at present railway stations and bus stands are built at four places, then they will also be able to connect to the metro.
Benefit – If hubs are created by connecting IPTs, people will get last mile connectivity.
Preparation – There will also be connectivity between BRTS, Metro, Intermediate Public Transport.
To solve this burning question of how to solve the city’s traffic problem, the youth of the city are also studying the subjects of their research and projects with priority. As a result, how should the daily movement of people be facilitated? Where can people coming and going find convenient public transport? Can pedestrians find sidewalks empty? Are there places to park vehicles? How to make public transport useful till last mile connectivity? Answers to such questions are also being received. On the basis of the research being done in GSITS, a suggestion has been given to the government to create a multi-modal transport hub by connecting Metro, BRTS, ISBT and intermediate public transport. So that people coming from outside, going outside can get public transport with last mile connectivity to reach from one end of the city to another.
Will make integrated terminals, so that there is no break in people’s journey
Experts say that currently, due to lack of integration of public transport, it takes more time for people to reach from one place to another. Due to lack of integrated terminal, there is problem in brake generation also. Due to these difficulties people use less public transport. Multi modal transport hubs will overcome such problems. All public transport and suburban services will be available at these hubs.
GSITS Civil Department Head Sandeep Narulkar says, studies are being conducted on smooth public transport, pedestrian footpaths etc. in the city. On the basis of this, they give suggestions to the local administration and government. Being located in the busiest central city of the developing Indore, this hub will also ease the movement from residential areas to commercial areas.
TOD will be around the metro line
After the construction of the metro line, there will be transit oriented development in this area. Due to which commercial development will be rapid on both sides of the line. With the construction of these terminals, transportation to the Super Corridor, Airport and the Economic Corridor to be built in the future will become easier.
Preparations to be made at these places
Vijay Nagar – BRTS & MR-There is movement of metro, BRTS and city buses at junction point 10. IPT i.e. E Rickshaw, Van and Magic are also available on these roads. For this, the currently vacant space near Vijay Nagar intersection can be developed as a multi-modal transport hub. Metro and BRTS stations are being built here. It will be easier for people if a terminal point is made here for suburban, city buses and ITP also.
Rajiv Gandhi Square – Ring Road here,
BRTS-AB Road is the junction of MR-3 connecting Rau-Rajendra and Bypass. It is developing as a major residential area of Indore. If a multi-modal transport hub is created around this intersection, then connectivity with the local people as well as the ISBT and bus stand being built on the outskirts of the city will be easy. People will be able to move in the developing commercial area using BRTS and Metro. This terminal will connect the eastern and western regions with high-speed public transport.
ISBT MR-10-Inter here
State Bus Terminal is being built. It is also connected to the metro station. The railway line is passing near it. It is also the end of the Western Ring Road- MR-4. By making a railway stop here, junction of local train, passenger bus, suburban bus, city bus and ITP can be made. With this, by connecting buses of all interstate services from here, movement between the east and west of the city can be made easier.
Railway Station-Sarvate Bus Stand – This is an important part of the central city. Here is the main railway station and bus stand of the city.
